Chef Jonathan is a graduate from the The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and brings 20 plus years of culinary and hospitality experience to Black Rock Country Club. He has also earned BA in Political Science from St. Mary’s University.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and raised in Camden, Maine, life on the coast of Maine shaped Chef Jonathan’s future culinary career. From New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts to Maine his career has brought him to some amazing luxury boutique hotels: Reluctant Panther Inn, Blair Hill Inn and The Inn at Thorn Hill and Spa to name a few. He served as Sous Chef early in his career at Lumiere Restaurant in Newton before heading to the west coast for three years where he spent time in California and worked under Certified Master Chef, Roland Henin at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park.
Other key accomplishments in Chef Jonathan’s career include participation in a James Beard Foundation dinner and Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs dinner as a member of Chef Michael Leviton’s staff at Lumiere.
Jonathan is passionate about using locally sourced products. It is reflected in his menus and approach towards fresh, regionally inspired cuisine. Outside of the kitchen, Jonathan enjoys alpine skiing and mountain biking. Chef Jonathan is looking forward to getting to know the members of Black Rock Country Club.
